  • One wet day

well i woke up late which was nice as i am usually an early riser, the first thing i became aware of was it was still raining. I looked out or the windw and we had had so much rain the fish pool was nearly overflowing.

Got up and had a lazy breakfast, then decided i really needed to get to the shops as i had had to work yesterday. Rob decided to come with me, a mixed blessing, he is brilliant at pushing the trolly and finding bargains BUT he is also brilliant at poping things into the trolley that i don't see until we get to the check out.

When we got home i decided to take my mums shopping round to her straight away, she only lives a few minutes walk away.  Thankfully she was feeling much better again today.

Then when i got home i found Rob had retreated to the garage to do some woodwork, so i decided it was a good idea to put my feet up with a cuppa and a good book. It is a good book but somhow i fell asleep, still i must have needed it.

We have just had our evening meal and now i'm catching up here . Forecast is not good for tomorrow either. Then thats another bank holiday wash out done with and back to work on Tuesday. Oh well it will soon be June 16th and we'll be off to Cornwall.

  • What a week it's been!!!

At last it is Friday and only one more shift to do tomorrow and I get a whole two days to catch up on things like the ironing and dusting, well how exciting is that.

We were going to go away with the tent but the weather forecast is lousy so we have abandoned the idea. I'm sorry in one way but not in another because we couldn't go until Sunday because i had agreed to do an extra shift, and putting the tent up for the one night doesn't really seem worth it somehow.

But what a week I've had at work, busy busy busy.  To finish a week full of meetings of one kind and another I had to chair another meeting this afternoon. However it was a good meeting with everyone in a happy frame of mind. So I actually enjoyed it.

The highlight of my week was on Wednesday when I collected my three pass certificates for the I.T. courses I have been taking. Fool that I am I have already started on another more intensive I.T. course.

Must go now and feed the wildlife.

  • Wedding Anniversary and stuff

Tomorrow is our wedding anniversary, 15 years, how have we managed to survive 15 years I ask myself.

Well I have to say it got easier when the children left home.
Between us we have five now all flown the nest and busy and happy doing their own thing.

My memory is playing tricks on me, must be an age thing. I went shopping yesterday for a nice anniversary card and finished up at the till with a birthday card; which I bought as Rob is 60 next month. I then went to a differant shop to get the card I had intended to buy.

Oh dear the menopause has a lot to answer for.

I don't suppose we will do anything special on the day but we may go for a meal at the weekend. To be truthful by the time we get in at the end of the working day getting ready to go out is the last thing on our mind. Then again that will have to be on Sunday as i have a 24 hour shift 'on call' for emergencies on Saturday.

At least the weather is more like summer at last, I love the light nights, just hope it lasts so that everyone has good weather for their hols.

Had a walk around the garden and I noticed we have some tweeny tomatoes on two of the plants, so I must start to feed them now. Just imagine eating  fresh picked tomatoes still warm from the sun.

Suns going down for the evening so best go get the washing in.

  • Hooray the sun is shining

Hooray at last the sun is shining, all the shopping is done and I am free to watch the cup final, except that I find i don't really want to.
Why not I ask myself, I love football, am I not well?
I have reached the conclusion that it is because of the two teams that are playing, they know more about acting than they do about football I reckon. I may watch the edited highlights later.
Think I might get a warm drink and curl up with my book instead.

  • Thank goodness it's Friday

What a week it has been, full of rain, rain, more rain and meetings after meetings.

Never mind I've survived and now I have the whole weekend before I have to go back to work. Plus the sun decided to shine this afternoon and it's supposed to make a reappearence tomorrow as well.

Must find time to give the parrots their weekly major clean tomorrow but I think a bit of retail therapy is called for before that. Decided to treat myself to a new ring off the tv last night, so I am now waiting eargerly for it to arrive.

I could so easily get carried away by all the lovely things they sell on the tv these days.

I must remember to get a card tomorrow whilst I am out. I't's our 15th wedding anniversary on Wednesday, where did those years go I wonder. I usually make my cards but I just have not had time this year, so will have to make do with a bought one.

My mum has gone away for the weekend this weekend so I am keeping an eye on her place too. She lives just a couple of minutes walk away but around a few corners so we are not constantly in sight of each other if you know what I mean.

Hopefully I will get a chance to catch up with my daughter and son in law too this weekend and see what they have been up to. Sharon runs her own business so i don't see as much of her as I would like to, but I am very proud of her and her acheivments.

Going now to get a well earned drink.

  • Another lousy day in paradise

The weather is wet yet again, I have had to put the heating back on and I'm sat wearing a thick woolly, is it really nearly the start of June? The longest day is in 4 weeks time for goodness sake and then we are on the way back to winter again.

Ignore me I've just had a lousy day at work, everything went wrong and all the staff were complaining and I have another rotton meeting to conduct tomorrow afternoon, plus it's my turn to be on emergency call out overnight. GRRRRRR!!!!!!

Roll on June 16 when we can ignore the world and set off for our holiday in Cornwall.

Why is Rob never grumpy?, he has a rotton job, with poor pay and yet he's always cheerful, am I missing somthing here.

My mum's just rung and her feet are swollen and painful again, and she's supposed to be going away for the weekend, looks as if she may not be going after all. But then if it's going to rain all weekend she might be better off at home.

Going now to pour a large glass of wine and curl up with my book
